Jay Electronica has gone from indie sensation to hip-hop savior to cultural afterthought to borderline recluse over the span of ten years. His first mixtape, 2007s Act I: Eternal Sunshine (The Pledge), led to high expectations, and his 2009 single "Exhibit C" was hailed as an instant classic, giving Jay the kind of buzz an underground rapper hadn't seen since Nas in the early 90s.

But fans have been waiting for an official album or the second "Act" of his mixtape series to no avail. In the interim, Jay has joined Roc Nation, delivered notable guest appearances, engaged in beefs with Kendrick Lamar and 50 Cent, dated a billionaire heiress and occasionally baited controversy on social media.

But today (July 3) Jay hinted that new music may be on the way.

"Every great magic trick consists of three parts or acts," Jay Elect tweeted. "The first part is called #ThePledge. The magician shows you something ordinary: a deck of cards, a bird or a M A N."

"He shows you this object. Perhaps he asks you to inspect it to see if it is indeed real, unaltered, normal. But of course..it probably isn't."

"The 2nd Act is called #TheTurn," he continues. "This is where #TheMagician takes the ordinary something and makes it do something EXTRAORDINARY."

He then tweeted: "to all those who have been patient with me and supported me over the years, thank you. And get #Tidal#AreYouWatchingClosely?"

When one fan mentioned that he only had TIDAL for 40 more days, Jay replied, "well you're safe."
