On Friday night (Nov. 12) during a show at New York City nightclub The Box, Jay-Z announced that New Orleans rapper Jay Electronica has officially become the latest signee to his Roc Nation imprint.

"My whole goal is to reintroduce magic to hip-hop," Jay explained to the intimate crowd. "We watched this wizard do his thing. Ya'll supported him. And he's an official Roc Nation signee." After accepting his new spot in the Roc family with an official introduction -- "My name is Jay Electronica and my mama is here so you can't tell me s---" Elect took the stage to perform his hit singles 'Exhibit A' and 'Exhibit C.'

Despite building substantial buzz in the underground scene for the past few years, Jay Electronica has yet to release a full-length album. In February, he announced plans to drop the mixtape 'Act II' followed by his debut album 'Act III,' but there have been no developments on either project. The news of Jay Elect's Roc Nation deal comes after months of rumors that the Southern rapper was being courted by Bad Boy mogul Diddy. The two recently collaborated on the track "The Ghost of Christopher Wallace."
