Jay Electronica surprised fans by dropping a new song titled 'Better in Tune with the Infinite' on Friday (March 14). Until now, the reclusive rhymer has pretty much disappeared from the rap game. So this new track is a welcoming surprise.

After attending several rap shows at SXSW, the New Orleans native was prompted by a fan to release a new song and he obliged.

'Better in Tune with the Infinite' features Jay Elect rapping over Ryuichi Sakamoto’s 'Bibo no Aozora,' which was featured in the 2006 flick 'Babel.' It’s the same solemn piano groove that Trey Songz sampled on 'Can’t Be Friends.'

On the song, the Roc Nation rapper carefully explains why it’s been taking him so long to drop new music. He expresses a lot of self-doubt and fear on how people will react to his content.

"It’s frustrating when you just can’t express yourself / And it’s hard to trust enough to undress yourself / Stand exposed and naked in a world full of hatred / Where the sick thoughts of mankind control all the sacred," he raps.

The song also features the wrought vocals of LaTonya Givens as she sings, "I got something to say / Yesterday is gone, tomorrow is on the way / You don’t have time to waste / Got to get it right."

'Better in Tune with the Infinite' is no 'Exhibit C' but it’s good to hear that Jay Electronica hasn’t lost his knack for spitting introspective lyrics.

This is simply a teaser for what we hope will be more music from the rap wunderkind in the near future.
