When Jason Derulo is presented with the task of performing an acoustic version of one of his songs, he doesn't falter. The 24-year-old singer welcomes the opportunity to allow his vocal chops to take center stage without the usual choreography he sprinkles into his vigorous performances.

For The Boombox's Off the Record series, Derulo ditches the dance heavy grooves of his 2013 hit 'The Other Side' (which has hit the charts in more than 15 countries) and embraces a solo guitar to support his lyrics centered on a risque rendezvous. "Tonight, take me to the other side / Sparks fly like the Fourth of July / Just take me to the other side / I see that sexy look in your eyes," he sings inside Avatar Studios in New York City.

The Ammo-produced song originally appeared on Derulo's 2013 album 'Tattoos.' Now the effort also shows up on his new LP, 'Talk Dirty,' a reissue that debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard 200 this week selling 44,129 copies. "I try to make sure that every single song on my album is as good as the last," Derulo tells The Boombox. "That's why I'm really excited to actually release this album because I actually think the half that [wasn't heard before the reissue] is better than the half that has been. This next half is really something."
