Janelle Monae Reworks Robert Palmer Classic ‘Simply Irresistible’

Janelle Monae may not be up for an Oscar nomination but she helped celebrate the 86th annual Academy Awards by recording a song for E!’s 2014 Live from the Red Carpet soundtrack.

The Electric Lady reworked Robert Palmer’s classic 1988 song 'Simply Irresistible.' Monae added some funk to her rendition along with some infectious synth riffs and charging guitars.

Interestingly, Monae stayed true to the Palmer’s descriptive lyrics of a beautiful woman he desires.

"Her method are insatiable / The proof is irrefutable / She is so completely kissable / I lie in her physical," she sings.

“I had so much fuuuun reimagining this song for E’s #Oscars coverage #robertpalmer #simplyirresistible JAM,” tweeted Monae to her fans on Twitter.

Along with Monae, Charli XCX, the Royal Concept and Fitz & the Tantrums also put their collective spin on the Robert Palmer song.
