For years, Janelle Monae's signature aesthetic has been tailored black-and-white men's style suitwear paired with red lipstick and a fancy updo. However, in her new video for 'Electric Lady,' we see her in a new light.

Sure, the monochrome attire and red lipstick are still there but now she lets her hair down and wears some track-style leggings, a crop top and a jacket with her sorority's insignia on it -- the Electro Phi Betas.

The video takes us from Janelle's home, where she says goodbye to her mom (yes, that's her actual mom) to the sorority house, which looks more like some classy condo than a college residence.

There are tons of special cameis in the video including T-Boz, Monica, Estelle, Esperanza Spalding and Kimbra, who all appear on a wall of Electro Phi Beta honorees while. T.I. and choreographer Fatima Robinson join the festivities too.

Not only is this one empowering track, it's one that you can easily groove to, especially if you're experiencing the midweek slump. Just put this on and imagine Janelle in her marching band outfit leading you in one fun line dance, and you'll get into a great mood in no time.
