Jam Master Jay Lives on in ‘Two Turntables and a Microphone’

The late Jam Master Jay lives on thanks to family, friends, fans and the Ninth Annual Hollywood Black Film Festival. ‘Two Turntables and a Microphone,’ a new documentary on the life and death of the legendary Run-D.M.C. DJ, will premiere at the festival, which takes place June 3-8 in Beverly Hills, California.

“I am particularly excited about showcasing this film. Not only am I a native New Yorker, but I’m a true fan who grew up listening to Jam Master Jay spin with Run-DMC,” HBFF founder Tanya Kersey said. “This movie highlights the life of an extraordinarily talented artist who will always be remembered as one of Hip-Hop’s true legendary innovators. I can’t think of a better way to commemorate Jam Master Jay then at the opening night of the Hollywood Black Film Festival.”

The documentary features interviews with Run-D.M.C. emcee Rev. Run, Russell Simmons, Jay-Z, Mary J. Blige, Ja Rule, 50 Cent, LL Cool J, Method Man and Swizz Beatz.

The famed DJ was gunned down on October 30, 2002 in his Queens recording studio. Police officials have yet to identify a suspect in Jay’s murder.
