Def Jam's 25th anniversary celebration has brought out an all-star lineup of artists to present and perform at Vh1's Hip Hop Honors, but the one of the biggest surprises has been a planned reunion and joint performance from former Murder Inc. dream-team Ja Rule and Ashanti. A photo of the two rehearsing at the Brooklyn Academy of Music for the Oct. 13 show surfaced online Tuesday. According to MurderInc-Online, the pair have teamed up to perform their hit songs, including "Down 4 You" and "Always On Time."

Ja Rule, who has not worked closely with Ashanti in the past few years, especially because of her struggles with Irv Gotti, tweeted his excitement about the show, but didn't mention the R&B singer. "Hip hop honors tomorrow me eminem and dmx all in the same building lmfao this should be fun can't wait lol!!!," he wrote. "..Vh1 hip hop honors airs oct.13 for all those asking gonna be a good show."

Back in May, Irv Gotti announced plans to drop Ashanti from Murder Inc., saying that her relationship with the label had run its course, and that she was creatively in a different place. The tension between the two has not decreased but Ja Rule told SOHH that he didn't want it to affect his relationship with Ashanti.

"I don't have any problems with Ashanti. That's my sister. We're a family so it's funny, it's like my brother and my sister are fighting, " he said. "You see what I'm saying? It's a funny thing to me but Gotti is my brother before she was my sister so you take it how you take it. But me and Bon Bon are cool and I got love for her, that's my sister man..I think me and Bon Bon can coincide and do some records together again."

VH1's Hip Hop honors will air on Tuesday, Oct. 13. In addition to Ja Rule and Ashanti, attendees and performers include Eminem, The Roots, Mary J. Blige, Fabolous, Young Jeezy, DMX, Kid Rock and Red & Meth.
