Rapper Ivory P, who was a former affiliate of Pimp C’s UGK Records label, was shot and killed by police in Baytown, Texas, following a police chase that stretched into three counties.

According to Click2Houston, police tried to stop Ivory P’s black Mercedes-Benz SUV but the vehicle sped away. That’s when the police chase ensued.

Deputies in neighboring Chambers and Baytown counties, as well as the Department of Public Safety troopers, joined the 30-minute chase. Police laid down spike strips to stop the vehicle but Ivory P was able to drive around them. The chase ended when police performed a PIT maneuver and the SUV crashed into the bushes.

However, when Ivory P exited the vehicle, he reportedly exchanged gunfire with police and was subsequently shot and killed. A DPS spokesman said that Ivory P showed a gun to deputies during the chase and again after the crash.

Following the shooting, reports have surfaced that Ivory P, whose real name is Ivory C. Pantallion III, may be connected to a homicide where a young woman was found shot to death inside a hotel room. The unidentified woman was found by staff on Wednesday morning (Nov. 23) but officers say she had been there for at least a day. Police told 12NewsNow.com that it's still early in the investigation but they are exploring all leads.
