Iggy Azalea’s Favorite Rap Album Win at 2014 AMAs Upsets Fans

There were plenty of surprises at the 2014 American Music Awards on Sunday (Nov. 23), but Iggy Azalea winning the Favorite Rap/Hip-Hop Album trophy for 'The New Classic' shocked rap fans watching the event. As you can imagine, viewers went on Twitter to express their outrage.

The Aussie rapper beat out Drake and Eminem for the coveted award, which is voted on by fans and not by rap experts (so keep that in mind). Still, Azalea's win is astounding considering that she just released her debut album several months ago.

Azalea receiving the AMA honor has also reminded fans of Macklemore's shocking win for the Best Rap Album at the 2014 Grammy Awards, beating out fan favorite Kendrick Lamar.
