House Party 2 (1991) – Best Hip-Hop Movie Soundtracks

It’s funny and not altogether inappropriate that most audiences associate Kid 'N' Play with their movies rather than their music, but their cuts on their own soundtracks, in particular 'House Party 2' evidenced that they were as gifted on the mike as on screen. 'Ain’t Gonna Hurt Nobody' is still the jam if you’re trying to set off a pajama jammy jam, while Tony! Toni! Tone!’s 'I Don’t Know What You Come To Do' feels like it was created so that idiots like me could push people out of the way and try awkwardly to do the Kid 'N' Play on the dancefloor. Slow jams like Keith Washington’s 'Candlelight & You' complement party anthems like Bell Biv Devoe’s 'Let Me Know Something' remix and Ralph Tresvant’s “Yo, Baby, Yo!” But Eric B. & Rakim are MVPs once again with their thoughtful “What’s On Your Mind,” the kind of song that inspires rap fans to make mixtapes for their girlfriends.
