The state of Louisiana has gifted hip-hop with several hometown heroes including Lil Wayne, Kevin Gates, Boosie Badazz and Webbie, who celebrates his 30th birthday today (Sept. 6).

Webbie, whose real name is Webster Gradney, Jr., got his taste of fame when he was just in his teens. He got some attention when he appeared on Boosie Badazz's "Gotta Get It" in 2002. Webbie has since remained a mainstay on Lil Boosie projects. The "Serve" rhymer appeared twice on Boosie Badazz's comeback album, Touchdown 2 Cause Hell.

The Savage Life series composes Webbie' solo album output. He struck gold in the second entry with "Independent," which made it to the Top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100 Songs chart.

Webbie has remained more of a local hero than a national star since then. His last project, the Money Good mixtape, dropped last year.
