Happy Birthday to Tech N9ne! Strange Music's head honcho turns 46 today (Nov. 8).

Over the length of his almost twenty year career, Tech N9ne has built one of the most remarkable independent careers in hip-hop. He has a major following and he's largely done it his way; founding Strange Music in 1999 and helping to launch the careers of artists like Krizz Kaliko while providing a platform for others like Brotha Lynch Hung and Rittz.

Since 1999s The Calm Before the Storm, Tech has released 11 official studio albums, 2010s Bad Season mixtape, six EPs and eight albums under his well-received Collabos series. He's become a standard-bearer for indie rap success and longevity and he's provided a blueprint for artists who want to pursue their careers on their terms.

In 2016, Tech had to endure family tragedies when his aunt was shot in her Kansas City home; only for his niece to be shot and her friend killed in his hometown just a few months later.

Last month, Tech N9ne was featured on one of the 20 XXL special edition covers to commemorate the mag's 20th anniversary. And he recently dropped the video for his track "Cold Piece of Work;" which is from Tech N9ne's latest project, Strange Reign—part of his Tech N9ne Collabos series.
