Snoop Dogg celebrates another year on Earth today (Oct. 20). The Doggfather is 45 years old.

Because Uncle Snoop is one of the most celebrated figures in hip-hop history, it's easy to forget just how unique of a voice he was when he first entered the game. The way his natural cool slathered itself on to beats made him an instant star. Sometimes he was coldblooded and sometimes he just wanted to get the party started.

Dr. Dre's The Chronic is indisputably a classic album that's also noted for being a coming out party for Snoop Dogg. He was all over the first half of the album and, of course, teamed up with the veteran producer for "Nuthin' but a 'G' Thang," which is one of the greatest rap songs ever.

The Long Beach, Calif. native has been successful ever since, starting with his classic 1993 debut album, Doggystyle. He's managed to keep his relevance thanks with standout collaborations, numerous comedic appearances (including a hilarious lewd appearance on Chappelle's Show) and just mellowing out to become the sess-blowing Uncle Snoop.

In the end, Snoop Dogg is the perfect example on how to accept your OG status in the rap game.
