Although he hasn't had a Billboard hit in quite some time, Plies still remains one of the more entertaining figures in hip-hop. The rhymer turns 39 years old today (July 1).

Plies has been in the game since the late '90s, but finally started invading radio and college playlists when he signed with Slip-n-Slide Records in 2004. His first big hit was 2007's T-Pain featuring "Shawty," which presented his thug lover persona in full force. Luckily for the rapper, the hits kept coming his way.

He was an airwaves mainstay from 2007-09. Some of the biggest tracks of his career include "Hypnotized" featuring Akon, DJ Khaled's "I'm So Hood" and Gucci Mane's "Wasted," arguably his best feature. Plies also dropped four albums and the first two -- The Real Testament and Definition of Real -- went gold.

The Florida native hasn't released an album since 2010, but he has been keeping the output going through mixtapes. He's also proven himself to be a reliable entertainer through tours and social media, where he regularly provides ridiculous relationship advice and jokes, namely on "Sweet Pwussy Satday." He unfortunately became the butt of many jokes when he was suplexed by a fan during a concert in April. But if his Instagram account is any indicator, Plies has been doing just fine.
