Kirko Bangz is another rapper from Houston whose name has made it to the national scene. The rising star turns 26 years old today (Aug. 20).

Since the age of 15, Kirko has been rapping. He also joined a select group of rappers who attended college (Prairie View A&M University, where he majored in communications). The rhymer scored his first minor hit, "What Yo Name Iz," in 2011, and his biggest song, "Drank in My Cup," came just a few months later that year. The mixtape cut went on to sell over 1,000,000 copies digitally and hit the upper half of the Billboard Hot 100.

Kirko would go on to be featured on the cover of XXL's 2013 Freshman Class cover, but that would be his last high in the mainstream lens. He's released a string of mixtapes featuring collaborations with Houston greats like Z-Ro, Paul Wall and Slim Thug, but he's yet to release his debut album after announcing it in 2013. However, his signing with 300 Entertainment (the label which features Fetty Wap and Migos) gives hope that the album will see the light of day soon.
