Dr. Dre celebrates his 53rd birthday today (Feb. 18) and the legendary hip-hop producer has a lot to celebrate.

But before he was a near-billionaire music tech exec and before he was a Hall of Famer, he was one of the most acclaimed and successful hip-hop producers in the history of the genre. Dre's history is no doubt spotty (his past as an abuser is something that should never be forgotten, dismissed or downplayed considering his art has been so connected to misogyny) and as such, his legacy is complicated.

What is apparent to most hip-hop fans, is that Dre has contributed to an enormous amount of the best music the genre has produced. For better and worse, you can't discuss production in hip-hop without mentioning Dr. Dre. And outside of hip-hop directly, he's helmed more than a few significant R&B tracks over the years.

So we've included several of our favorite Dr. Dre productions to remind you of what he's done musically outside of Straight Outta ComptonThe Chronic, Get Rich or Die Tryin' and good kid, m.A.A.d city.

To celebrate the D-R-E-'s birthday, here are some classic Dr. Dre-produced tracks that you may have forgotten he had a hand in:
