Call it a letter of redemption or a mission statement if you will, as Gucci Mane has written an open letter to his fans -- directly from prison.

In the handwritten letter, which was released by MTV, the troubled rapper said he's going to be a new man when he's free from incarceration and plans to focus more on his music and business endeavors.

"My idea is to take my career to the next level," he writes. "I am planning to take my music to a higher level and use the attention and influence to sell movies, books, clothing and be a living testimony to all people showing that you can start from humble beginnings and transcend to something greater."

The 34-year old's troubles with the law are as well-known as his music. In 2005, he was charged with murder, although the charges were later dropped. Battery charges came in 2011, when he was arrested for pushing a woman out of a moving vehicle and on Sept. 14, 2013, he was arrested for disorderly conduct, weapons possession and marijuana possession. In May 2014, he plead guilty to carrying an illegal firearm while being a felon. And that's just a few of his laundry list of arrests and charges.

For almost a decade, Gucci has encountered one legal drama after another. Now he wants to stay healthy and sober, which will help him stay on path free from crime. He also talked about what his future will look like in the missive.

"I can see myself now at the top of my game," he pens. "Me and my beautiful lady walking the red carpet at the best parties and getting flooded with accolades at the award shows and setting trends that will be copied around the world. This is not a dream though this is a plan that I will affect directly. I know that by me stayin sober, praying and fasting and stepping up to the plate to the father, and man I am destined to be I will impact my family and the entire universe for the better."

Gucci will be locked up until 2016. Upon his release, fans will see if he stays true to his word.

It feels great to see my plan take root and begin to blossom even though I’m physically incarcerated but spiritually and mentally I’m free as ever. I enjoy working out molding my body and I look forward to changing my diet for the better because I realize to get to the status I crave I must make a life-change which is permanent not a quick-fix.
