Yesterday, The Boombox reported that Southern trap king, Gucci Mane, had turned himself in on assault chargers. According to The Associated Press, the rapper had been partying earlier this month at an Atlanta nightclub, where he allegedly assaulted a soldier with a champagne bottle.

The performer, born Radric Davis, appeared in court on Wednesday (March 27) and was denied bond. He has been in Fulton County Jail in Atlanta since Tuesday, and will not be up for release until April 10.

Gucci definitely has a history of run-ins with the law. He has previously been wanted for murder, but the charges were dropped due to insufficient evidence. The rapper has also been arrested for cocaine possession, reckless driving and other offenses.

"Mr. Davis has a history, we're not going to skirt that issue, and that history made it difficult for him to get bond today," defense attorney Drew Findling told local Georgia station WSBTV.

SPIN reports that Gucci's counsel plans to appeal the denial of bond to a higher court, and that the legal team has already procured several witnesses from the evening in question.
