Macklemore & Ryan Lewis had a phenomenal year promoting their celebrated debut album, 'The Heist.' For their hard work, the Seattle duo were honored with seven nominations for the 2014 Grammy Awards. Mack and Ryan couldn’t be more appreciative of the recognition from the Recording Academy.

"Overwhelmed, exciting and extremely grateful for this position," Macklemore told MTV News. “Up until a year, a year and a half ago, we were an underground rapper that only a small percentage of the population had heard."

"And to be here, and to reach this scale, I would have never thought that our music would affect this many people and be heard by this many people," he continued. "It’s the highest honor; it’s the peak of what you strive for in terms of being recognized for the music that you make."

Among the nominations Macklemore received include Album of the Year for 'The Heist.' The duo also nabbed a Song of the Year nod for their marriage equality ode, 'Same Love.' They will go up against chart-topping hits by Lorde ('Royals'), Bruno Mars ('Locked Out of Heaven'), Katy Perry ('Roar') and Pink ('Just Give Me A Reason').

Macklemore and Ryan Lewis say that winning Song of the Year will be the highlight of an already big year for them.

"That would be incredible," says Macklemore. "That would be on the top of the list."

The 56th Annual Grammy Awards will air live from Los Angles on Jan. 26 at 8PM ET on CBS.

Congratulations to Macklemore and Ryan Lewis on their Grammy nominations.
