Goldie Harvey, a popular Nigerian singer, died on Thursday night (Feb. 14) at Reddington Hospital, in Victoria Island, Lagos.

The singer, born Susan Filani, is said to have complained of a headache after returning to Africa from the United States, where she attended the 2013 Grammy Awards. She was rushed to Reddington Hospital and pronounced dead on arrival at 7:30 PM.

"We consider this period a gloomy moment for us and the entire Nigerian music industry in view of the circumstance in which she passed away," said a statement from Kenny Ogungbe, the CEO of her record label, Kennis Music. "The abundance of talent she exhibited in her short but eventful music career and the various opportunities her trip to the United States of America would have availed her.

The 31-year-old singer had appeared on Big Brother Africa last year, where she met Kenyan rapper Prezzo, with whom she had an on-and-off romance.

On Thursday he was reportedly traveling to Lagos, Nigeria to begin shooting a reality TV show with Goldie.
