Method Man, Ghostface Killah and Raekwon

It was announced Thursday (May 6) by Roots drummer Questlove that the special guest performers at this year's annual Roots picnic will be none other than Staten Island's finest Ghostface Killah, Raekwon and Method Man, who released the collaboration 'Wu Massacre' in March. In an interview with Billboard.com, Quest revealed that the three Wu-Tang members have been added to the lineup which already includes the Clipse, Nneka, Mayer Hawthorne, the Very Best, tUnE-yArDs, Das Racist, Bajah and the Dry Eye Crew and Pattern Is Movement. Brooklyn-based band Vampire Weekend will headline the event.

Last year the Roots picnic celebrated the 20th anniversary of Public Enemy's 'It Takes a Nation of Millions To Hold Us Back.' The seminal rap group led by Chuck D and Flavor Flav performed cuts from the critically acclaimed and always noteworthy album, such as Terminator X to the Edge of Panic,' 'Black Steel in the Hour of Chaos,' 'Don't Believe The Hype,' 'Bring the Noise' and 'Fight the Power.' Kid Cudi and Asher Roth took over the mini-stage last June and Santigold set things off while the sun was still out.

The event take place on June 5 at Philadelphia's Festival Pier.
