Future opened up the BET Hip Hop Awards with a remote performance of his 2015 smashes “March Madness,” off his 56 Nights mixtape, and “Where Ya At,” featured on his chart-topping DS2 album.

It was only a few months back in July when the Atlanta rapper blasted BET for suggesting that he “do some off brand, corny s---” on camera and the performance that he had scheduled at the annual awards show was called off. So it appears that he was able to reach a compromise with the network this time around with the BET Hip Hop Awards.

Although the ceremony was filmed just a few miles away from where the Freebandz general grew up in Atlanta, it appeared that Future wasn’t even in the building for the awards show festivities. Still, fans of the rapper reveled in the booming bass of two of this year’s biggest hits. “Dirty soda in a Styrofoam,” he rapped as purple and blue lights shifted from overhead. “Spend a day to get my mind blown / Dress it up and go to NASA / 200 miles on the dash /Gotta roll a pound up and gas it / Switching lanes in a Grand Rapid.”

Whether he was in the Atlanta Civic Center or not, with a full set or not, Future proved that the biggest year of his career translated to fans everywhere, without him even checking in on the red carpet.
