Freddie Gibbs was arrested by French police before he was set to perform at the Rex venue in France on Thursday night (June 2).

According to the French newspaper La Depeche, the Indiana rhymer was arrested for an European warrant issued by Austria in connection to an alleged rape that was committed in 2015. Gibbs was apprehended by French police as he arrived in Paris.

The 33-year-old rhymer did appear at a hearing on Friday (June 3) in front of a judge where he was later taken into custody to wait extradition to Austria so authorities can questioned him about the alleged crime.

Gibbs’s lawyer Scott Leemon, told Allhiphop.com, that the rapper will fight his extradition to Austria and says the charges are bogus.

"Freddie Gibbs adamantly denies the allegations that have been levied against by Austrian authorities,” he said. “It makes you wonder why it took almost a year for Austrian officials to bring these charges."

"Freddie will be fighting the extradition request as these are nothing more than trumped up charges," he added.

Gibbs was currently on a world tour, which included scheduled concerts in the U.K., Ireland, Portugal and Canada.

We hope that Freddie Gibbs can clear himself from these alleged charges and return home safely.
