GQ has named Odd Future crooner Frank Ocean its Rookie of the Year, in the magazine's annual Men of the Year issue. The publication recounts the singer-songwriter's long road to success via a prophetic message he addressed to himself five years ago, which he shared on Twitter, promising he'd be "on a plane right now to work with Kanye West & Jay-z. it's all working out kid, you made it.

Laid-back in a dapper three-piece suit, the 'Novacane' singer describes his "renegade" success in the short feature by simply stating, "I got to grab my nuts and point my middle finger up," as Ocean, who has indeed worked with Jay-Z and Kanye, continues to prepare his first commercial release in 2012.

Meanwhile, the 'Swim Good' performer recently turned down a Yeezy offer to appear on his forthcoming album. "I told him, 'As much as I want to work with you, I kinda want to do this without you,' I kinda want to do it on my own," he told BBC Radio 1's Zane Lowe.
