As expected, Frank Ocean’s latest effort, Blonde, is the No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 chart. This is the R&B singer’s first No. 1 album and is the third-largest debut of 2016.

According to Billboard, the collection pushed 276,000 copies in its first week of release. It could have possibly went platinum (1 million sold) if it wasn’t for the bootlegging that occurred when it dropped on Aug. 20. Out of Blonde’s 276,000 copies, 232,000 were purchased at traditional outlets.

Ocean’s Blonde follows Drake’s Views (1.04 million) and Beyonce’s Lemonade (653,000), which both notched major sales in its first week of release in 2016.

This is also Ocean's first independent project under his indie label Boys Don't Cry after he released his Endless visual album. That project fulfilled his contractual obligations with Def Jam who might pursue legal action against the singer.

Surprisingly, Ocean is getting no love from radio as there are no songs from Blonde getting any significant rotation. Kanye West urged radio stations to rethink their playlists but we don't anyone at radio was listening to him.

Other noteworthy releases this past week include Tory Lanez, whose debut album, I Told You, premiered at No. 4 with 52,000 copies sold. The LP boasts the chart-topping single “Say It” and the follow-up single, “Luv.”

Congrats to Frank Ocean on his recent Billboard 200 chart achievement.
