Earlier this week, Flavor Flav's Fried Chicken restaurant came under fire after employees were not being paid due to bounced checks. Now the former reality TV star and his latest venture are in the hot seat with PETA.

The famed animal rights organization fired off a lengthy letter to Flav encouraging him to stop selling chicken in his restaurant.

"After reading about the debacle involving employees of your fried-chicken restaurant in Clinton, Iowa, whose paychecks bounced, we're writing to encourage you to bounce one more thing -- cruelty -- and make your restaurant vegetarian," read the letter.

"Chickens are arguably the most abused animal on the planet," PETA's letter continued. "In the United States, more than 8 billion chickens are killed for their flesh each year, and 90 percent of these animals spend their lives in total filth and confinement-from the moment they hatch until the day they are killed."

PETA's letter described the harsh conditions chickens are subjected to while being raised for consumption. "More chickens are raised and killed for food than all other land animals combined, yet not a single federal law protects chickens from abuse-even though two-thirds of Americans say that they would support such a law. Chickens on factory farms are bred and drugged to grow so large so quickly that their legs and organs can't keep up, making heart attacks, organ failure, and crippling leg deformities common."

The letter also offered Flav faux chicken recipes via their website, and suggested that he keep the same non-meat dishes on the menu. "Faux fried chicken is as mouth-watering as it is healthy and humane, and we guarantee that it will have your customers yelling, 'Yeah, boy!'

Although PETA is known for reaching out to, and sometimes attacking, celebs for wearing fur or eating meat, chances are the Public Enemy hype man probably won't budge on the non-meat idea, seeing as how fried chicken is the whole gimmick of the restaurant. The 52-year-old opened the fried chicken eatery in Clinton, Iowa in January, and officially celebrated their grand opening last weekend.
