Fergie drew a lot of attention for her National Anthem performance at the start of the NBA All-Star Game this past Sunday. It was very... um, creative? Folks on social media had other choice words for the performance—and promptly roasted her.  Now, she's apologized.

"I've always been honored and proud to perform the national anthem and last night I wanted to try something special for the NBA,” Fergie told TMZ, deciding not to take a cue from Mariah Carey, who told her to forget the haters.

“I'm a risk taker artistically, but clearly this rendition didn't strike the intended tone," Fergie said. "I love this country and honestly tried my best."

Bless her heart.

Fergie, whose last album, Double Dutchess, dropped back in September and featured Nicki Minaj on the track, "You Already Know," is taking the criticism like a trooper.
