Fat Joe Donates 20 Computers to His Old Bronx Elementary School [VIDEO]

It’s always good to see rappers give back to their hometowns, especially during the holidays. Grammy-nominated rapper Fat Joe returned to his Bronx, N.Y. neighborhood to give back in a major way.

The “All the Way Up” rapper returned to his elementary school alma mater, Morrisania school, and gifted 20 new computers for students to use there. Fat Joe, along with Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr., held an assembly for students announcing the donation to the school.

The 46-year-old rap vet told the young students to pursue their education and never give up on their goals. “As long as you get an education and you stay focused, the future is yours," he said (quotes via DNAinfo New York). "There’s nothing you can’t do."

“If they make fun of you for being too smart, then you’re doing the right thing," he continued. "You continue to be smart.”

In addition to the computers, Joe was honored with a plaque in memory of Lisa Cartagena, Fat Joe's younger sister, as well as a former student at P.S. 146, who died during childbirth. The desktop Microsoft computers are expected to arrive at the school in early 2017.

"They say you got to fail before you succeed, but you got to keep fighting said Fat Joe. "But the thing about us in the Bronx is we are the greatest fighter in the world."

"We don't want you to be just smart, we want you to be brilliant," he added.
