Esperanza Spalding surprised viewers last night when she hit the stage to perform during Thursday night's edition (April 12) of "The Daily Show." Performances are a rare occurrence on the Jon Stewart-hosted program, however, the Grammy-winning singer didn't disappoint.

Showcasing two tracks off her fourth studio album, Radio Music Society, Spalding entertained the audience with a full band and supporting vocalists. "Black Gold" and "Crowned & Kissed" were selections she chose to perform on "The Daily Show," and Stewart praised the chanteuse for having a "beautiful sound."

"I feel like you should be twice as large as you are with the talent that you have," Stewart told Spalding onstage.
