Eminem swept last night's 2010 MTV Europe Music Awards, which took place in Madrid, Spain. The Detroit emcee took home the award for Best Hip-Hop Act, which pitted him against Lil Wayne, Kanye West, T.I. and Snoop Dogg for the prize. Though Em wasn't in attendance, he shared his gratitude with voters through a prerecorded statement that aired during the event.

"MTV EMAs thank you for this award. I apologize I couldn't be there, I'm in Brazil doing a show," said Em, who holds the record for most EMA wins with a staggering 10 statutes. "I found this award in my hotel room and I hope it's mine. Thank you."

Though Marshall Mathers was the night's biggest hip-hop victor, Lady Gaga smashed the competition by claiming three awards for Best Female, Song and Pop Act. Ke$ha walked away with Best New Act, while Justin Bieber won Best Male Artist and Paramore nabbed Best Alternative Act. Meanwhile, pop starlet Katy Perry was awarded Best Video for 'California Gurls.'

The event, hosted by Eva Longoria, featured performances by Kanye West with 30 Seconds to Mars, B.o.B with Hayley Williams, Rihanna, Shakira, Linkin Park, Ke$ha, Kid Rock, Katy Perry and Kings of Leon.
