Eminem & Rihanna Reunite on ‘The Monster’
Three years after 'Love the Way You Lie,' Eminem reunites with Rihanna on 'The Monster,' the brand new single from his upcoming album, 'The Marshall Mathers LP 2.' And just like their aforementioned collaboration, this one's poised to dominate charts, clubs and radio airwaves in the months ahead.
SiriusXM's Shade 45 debuted the track, which opens with a powerful, stadium-status hook from RiRi; 'The Monster' isn't scared to hide its pop intentions. The catchy, folk-flavored production -- courtesy of New York-born DJ Frequency -- soon focuses into frame as Slim Shady delivers a dexterous verse that's heavily rooted in reflection.
"Now I ain't much of a poet / But I know somebody once told me to seize the moment / And don't squander it / Cause you never know when it could all be over," he raps.
Although no doubt drawn from a genuine place, Em's rhymes are carefully constructed as to appeal to today's emotionally-conscious youth. You know, like how faux-deep images are impossible to escape on Tumblr.
'Berzerk,' the first offering off 'MMLP2,' has already put major numbers on the board; it debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 and sold over a million copies in the U.S alone. But as the more accessible radio hit-to-be of the bunch, don't be surprised if 'The Monster' goes onto smash those figures.
Featuring further appearances from Kendrick Lamar, Skylar Grey, Jamie N Commons, Sia and Nate Ruess of fun., 'The Marshall Mathers LP 2' hits stores next Tuesday (Nov. 5).
