Drake Frustrated By False Concert Bookings

DrakeRapper Drake has been the subject of fraudulent bookings for some time, and he has decided to make a stand.

Phony shows featuring the rapper have been booked, dating back to November, by con-artists claiming to be Drake’s management. The culprits use Twitter and Gmail accounts to pocket the large performance fees that the Young Money star usually receives, unbeknown to Drake or his management.

“It has been brought to my attention that false promoters and booking agents are illegally using my name and likeness to promote concerts and club appearances for their own financial gain,” Drake said in a statement.

“It is frustrating for me to hear that many of my fans, who like myself are innocent victims in these scams, have been misled due to the greed of these promoters,” he continued. “I apologize to any fan that has been a victim of these circumstances or feels let down by false advertising.” The perpetrators of the fraud claim to be Cortez Bryant, who co-manages Drake, along with management company HipHopSince1978, who also handle Kanye West, Young Jeezy and Lil Wayne.

Though no arrests have been made in the case, Drake says that he and his team are doing everything in their power to ensure that the false bookings cease. “Please be assured that my team and I take these matters seriously and are actively cooperating with authorities. I cannot thank my fans enough for supporting my music and all that I do,” the rapper concluded.

Meanwhile, Drake is booked through one of the largest management companies, International Creative Management (ICM). Anyone else claiming to handle the Canadian rapper’s bookings is faking the funk.
