Drake has canceled his European tour in light of his mother's upcoming surgery.Drake issued a statement explaining that he made the decision to skip the overseas dates in order to support his mother.

"Despite my best hopes, it is apparent that my mother will need surgery earlier than anticipated," the statement read. "In light of this news, I have made the difficult decision to cancel my European tour in order to support her during her recovery, just as she supported me through the years. I cannot thank my European fans enough and look forward to performing abroad soon. I ask everyone to please respect my family's privacy during this time."

During his recent MTV documentary special, Drake admitted that his mother was battling an illness, but he declined to reveal what she was suffering from. The Toronto rapper took to Twitter on Wednesday (June 30) to ask fans for their support during the difficult time. "Back at my moms house ... please include her in your prayers tonight as tmrw she faces a true challenge," he wrote.

The canceled tour dates are as follows: Hove Festival, Norway (July 2); Roskilde Festival, Denmark (July 3); Wireless Festival, London (July 4); La Cigale, Paris (July 5); Paradiso, Amsterdam (July 7); Les Ardentes Festival, Belgium, (July 8); Oxegen Festival, Ireland (July 9); T in the Park, Scotland (July 10); 02 Shepherd's Bush Empire, London (July 12-13).
