Dr. Dre to Drop ‘I Need a Doctor’ on Feb. 1
Dr. Dre's 'Detox' release date remains one of the biggest mysteries in hip-hop, but the good news is that the album's next single 'I Need A Doctor,' will drop this week. Currently streaming via Dre's newly re-launched website, DrDre.com, the single, which features Eminem and singer Skylar Grey, will be available on iTunes starting Tuesday (Feb. 1)
Produced by Alex da Kid, the piano heavy track rides along the same emotional lines of Em's 'Love the Way You Lie,' which was also put together by the 27-year-old London native. "I always believe in what I'm doing," Alex told The BoomBox of his producing skills. "I just knew that given the right opportunity I could really do something different and people would like it hopefully, and that's how all of this happened."
Once again Em delivers a stellar performance while expressing his gratitude for Dre, while the good doctor, uses his 16 bars to take a stroll down memory lane. "It literally feels like a lifetime ago, but I remember the s--- like it was yesterday though," Dre raps. "You walked in, yellow jump suit, whole room cracked jokes, once you got in the booth, told you, like smoke/ Went through friends, some of them I put on, they just left/ They said they was ridden' to the death but where the f--- are they now? Now that I need them, I don't see none of them all I need is Slim. F--- all you fair-weather friends, all I need is him."
After a decade of anticipation it looks as though 'Detox' is closer to being released than ever before. Although Dre, shot down Internet rumors that the album would drop on April 20, the project is said to hit stores sometime this year. 'I Need a Doctor' follows the album's lead single 'Kush,' featuring Snoop Dogg and Akon. Check out the video below.
