Donald Glover's TV series, Atlanta, is getting closer to its premiere date and fans are already getting a sneak peak at the series.

The 32-year-old actor, also known as rapper Childish Gambino, will co-star in the series about a college dropout who fails to become a rap star and decides to return back to his hometown.

"It's a show that I kind of always wanted to see on television so I hope that other television shows try and do it too," said Glover in an promotional interview for the series.

Glover will star alongside Keith Stanfield, Isiah Whitlock Jr., Brian Tyree Henry and Zazie Beetz in the comedy series.

Beetz, who plays his Glover's love interest, Van, spoke on what makes Atlanta special.

"In television, there is a lack of a place for people of color to just kind of be people. Friends isn't about white people being friends, it's about friends and I think that that's what makes me really feel like it's something different," she said in the interview.

While Glover has been taking a step back from the music scene, his acting career is flourishing. In the past year, he's appeared in Magic Mike XXL, The Martian and Disney's XD’s Ultimate Spider-Man.

His latest series, Atlanta, is set to air on FX this summer. As we prepare to set our DVRs, catch a clip of the show above and stay tuned to see what day the show drops.
