Dolly Parton is a versatile musician and she showcased her ability to take on a surprising genre recently during a performance at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, Calif.

Over the weekend (July 23), the blonde songstress treated fans to her signature country sounds but also let loose with a rap that could give some female rhymers stiff competition. Parton shocked the crowd when she began to belt out a solid freestyle.

The entertainer performed as an image of herself and rapper-turned-actress Queen Latifah flashed on a screen behind her. Parton, plugging her forthcoming film, 'Joyful Noise,' which she stars in alongside Latifah, jokingly took aim at the 'U.N.I.T.Y.' creator with lyrics that threw the audience into hysterics.

"She's the queen of her own hood, but I'm the queen of Dollywood!" the comical country star rhymed. "I don't hip and I don't hop, I'd black both eyes with this big top/ I know the Queen has got 'em too, but she don't work 'em like I do."

'Joyful Noise,' a Warner Bros. production, has the two powerhouses working together to try and stop the breakup of the Pacashau Gospel Choir, a group of singers down on their luck. Parton plays the late choir director's wife, who wants to run the group, and Latifah plays mother to one of the teenagers who takes charge of the choir after the director dies.

The film is set to premiere in January 2012.
