DMX to be Released From Prison This Summer
DMX will be a free man sooner than expected. After being sentenced to nearly a year behind bars for violating his probation, the embattled MC will be released on July 1. Once a free man, X -- born Earl Simmons -- will be under supervised watch until August 12.
Not long after his incarceration, the judge in the case also ruled that X may suffer from bi-polar disorder, which resulted in him being moved to the Flamenco Mental Health unit section of the facility.
The Yonkers, N.Y. native ran into trouble in Arizona following a show in Maricopa County, where he was apprehended and failed to submit to a drug test, and was believed to be under the influence of cocaine. "I shouldn't have done it," he said. "I wasn't done with the program. They let me out to do the show. I should have protected myself better."
Once a major staple in the hip-hop game, the former member of the Ruff Ryders has experienced a steep fall from grace, which has been rooted around his admitted drug addiction. Over the past few years, the 40-year-old has been incarcerated a total of 13 times for various offenses.
