DMX Sentenced to 90 Days in Jail
DMX has been sentenced to serve 90 days in jail for one count each of animal cruelty, theft, marijuana possession and possession of a narcotic.
The troubled rapper pleaded guilty to the list of charges in December and has remained behind bars in the Maricopa County Jail since being arrested at producer Scott Storch's Miami home on Dec. 9.
"I'm not sentencing DMX today, I'm sentencing Earl Simmons," Superior Court Commissioner Phemonia Miller said during the hearing. "I don't know DMX. Mr. Simmons, it's time to do something different. What you have been doing is not working."
In addiction to his sentence, the troubled rapper, whose real name is Earl Simmons, was placed on at least 18 months' supervised probation.
X's sentencing is the end, hopefully, of a year that consisted of multiple arrest warrants and investigations, resulting in a search of his Arizona home where police discovered emaciated pit bulls, guns and drugs.
