It's been one week since a judge allowed DMX to be taken off of house arrest in his ongoing tax evasion case on the condition that he enter a drug treatment program.

According to TMZ, X said house arrest wasn't working.

"House arrest wasn't working for me, so I made the decision to do something positive and better for myself," he said.

While X is in the program he is allowed to leave his home without his ankle bracelet, however, he is still not allowed to travel outside of New York State without permission. He has already requested permission to leave the state for concerts but it unclear if permission will be granted. DMX ran into some trouble back in July when he got hit with a $1.7 million dollar tax evasion charge. After spending one night in jail, he was sentenced to house arrest after failing four drug tests.

X's manager, Pat Gallow told TMZ that he has been working with recovery coach Joseph Griffin, and has made "great progress." X recently took a community outreach trip to a firehouse with his rehab group and even stopped to take a picture in front of a fire truck. X also told TMZ that he was working on new music.

“My pen is still to the paper and I’m in Beast Mode," he said.

While it is unclear what the end result of his tax evasion case will look like, it's great to see X doing well.
