Diddy Wants More Techno on Next Album

Diddy is looking to capitalize on the dance music craze and is set to record an entire album with techno/house DJ Guy Gerber.

Combs delved a bit into the genre on his latest effort with Dirty Money, ‘Last Train to Paris,’ which began with minute-and-a-half long spacey intro from Gerber. The rest of the album was infused with bass heavy dance beats, and tricked out Auto-Tuned vocals.

Gerber has collaborated with the likes of Akon and the Black Eyed Peas, and says he’ll be putting the brunt of his focus on the new project with Diddy. “The project I’m doing with P. Diddy, that is very different from my album and my album is very different from the singles that I put out,” Gerber told Pulse Radio. “The album is going be more electronic music, but more indie oriented … not that clubby … But yeah, the album is going be he and I.” Gerber also revealed the album does not have a title yet.

Diddy and his Dirty Money crew, which includes singers Dawn Richards and Kalenna Harper, earned respectable first week sales of their debut, landing them the No. 7 spot on the Billboard album charts, with 100,000 units. “The vision [for Last Train to Paris] started from hearing different sounds in Ibiza, at DC-10,” Diddy explained in an interview. “There’s a lot of different dance clubs in Ibiza, but DC-10, the way that the drums are syncopated, the percussion — it’s totally different from any club in the world. It opened my mind up to the fact that there’s something more than the four on the floor. The four on the floor is timeless, I’ll always mess with the four on the floor, but there’s something else out there. Being a producer and a connoisseur of hip-hop production, that’s the thing that motivated me.”
