Detroit Rappers Rally in Support of Local Legend Hex Murda

Royce Da 5'9", Slum Village and other members of the Detroit hip-hop community are planning to raise money Saturday (October 17) to lend a hand to Hex Murda, a local music scene legend who suffered a massive stroke last month.

The benefit concert has been dubbed the "F----n' 'Get Better Bro' Benefit," and will also feature performances by Black Milk and Guilty Simpson, both of whom Hex manages, along with Trick Trick, Phat Kat, DJ House Shoes and more.

Hex is known for being a positive force in Detroit's frequently contentious hip-hop scene, working to unite rather than divide. "Hex is the bridge between a lot of different families," stated Royce Da 5'9. "He's the reason why a lot of different families are not fighting with each other."

Word of Hex's stroke initially spread via Twitter, just hours after the respected music manager made some typically sharp commentary online about the MTV VMAs. Details of Hex's condition were not revealed until later, out of respect. Hex still remains in the Intensive Care Unit of a Detroit area hospital.

"He's one of the reasons why Detroit is one unified front," Royce said of Hex, who has worked with most of Detroit's rap community in some capacity and has a regular column on Allhiphop. "That's a big deal to us. So the whole city's gonna rally behind him in a major way and do whatever we gotta do financially, physically, whatever we gotta do."

Proceeds from the event, which is being held at St. Andrew's Hall, will go to Hex's family to help with medical bills and other expenses.
