It was just two weeks ago (Aug. 12) that a clearly frustrated Danny Brown threatened to leak his new album, ‘Old.’ And even though he had apparently pushed it back to October, it appears that we’ll be hearing the project sooner than that.

To be exact, the Detroit rapper will release ‘Old’ on Sept. 30, or just a day before the calendar flips to October. And just for added confirmation, his label boss—Fool’s Gold Records leader A-Trak—tweeted the following after seeing Brown’s original tweet:

This is, of course, great news for both Brown and his increasingly fervent fan base. But it’s not the only Brown-related news for the day.

He also hopped on a mellow, Jake One-produced remix of ‘Evil Friends’ by Portland, Ore. psych-rock band Portugal. The Man. The track now has a slightly crunchy and hypnotic vibe to it thanks to Jake One’s handiwork behind the boards.

Brown handles the ad libs on the chorus and spits a few poignant verses about all the fake friends out there who, among other things, are always asking for handouts. That’s just one of the reasons he keeps to himself and sticks with those friends who have been down since day one.

You can hear the ‘Evil Friends’ remix below. Be sure to peep our list of Danny Brown’s best guest verses since ‘XXX.
