Following a successful Roots Picnic event in Philadelphia over the weekend, Questlove is bringing the music festival to New York in the fall.

According to Billboard, the NYC edition of the Roots Picnic will make its inaugral debut on October 1 and 2 in Manhanttan’s Bryant Park.

Veteran R&B singer D’Angelo, venerable rap group the Wu-Tang Clan and music legend Nile Rodgers are among the headliners. Other performers included EMPD, Swizz Beatz, Jeremih, Kevin Gates, Lady Leshurr, Stretch & Bobbito and others.

"New York is a second home to us," says Questlove about the Roots Picnic in New York. "There's going to be pop up shops there, really good curated food, comedy, DJ parties there and acts that you wouldn't expect."

"We're deeply involved in everything, from the grass area to the food you're gonna eat to the music you're gonna hear in between. We're a part of all of that," he continued.

"We're Philadelphians; we pride ourselves on being a Philadelphia brand gone universal," adds Roots member Black Thought. "And we're kind of honorary New Yorkers because of the Tonight Show gig, so we thought it was a respectful way to pay homage to our second homes."

Tickets for the Roots Picnic: New York will go on sale Friday (June 10) at Ticketmaster.com.
