Daft Punk Wins Album of the Year, Record of the Year at 2014 Grammy Awards
Daft Punk were big winners at the 2014 Grammy Awards on Sunday (Jan. 26) in Los Angeles. The production duo won both Album of the Year for 'Random Access Memories’ and Record of the Year for 'Get Lucky' with Pharrell Williams and Nile Rodgers.
Throughout the ceremony, Daft Punk did not speak, which was a little disappointing. Nevertheless, Pharrell was their interpreter as he spoke humbly for them at the podium.
During their win for Album of the Year, Daft Punk let the album’s executive producer, veteran tunesmith Paul Williams, speak for them. "We are random access memories, some of us more random than others," he joked.
Williams also said that Daft Punk was touched by Macklemore’s performance of 'Same Love' and the expression of love onstage with the 33 marriages. He then added that the robots ride on the ship of generosity.
Williams also thanked everyone who worked on the album including Pharrell, whom he called a legend.
"This is a labor of love. We are all so grateful. Thank you to the [Record Academy]," he said.
Congratulations to Daft Punk, Pharrell Williams and Nile Rodgers for their stellar wins at the 2014 Grammy Awards.
