Cypress Hill, Redman and Smoke DZA Unite at New York City Show [Photos]
It’s been an annual tradition for Cypress Hill to celebrate Halloween with New York City and this year was no different, as the West Coast hip-hop group graced the stage at Best Buy Theater in TImes Square last night (Oct. 30). The NYC crowd bounced to supporting sets by Redman and Smoke DZA.
Cypress Hill kicked off their set with ‘Ain’t Goin’ Out Like That,’ ‘When the S--- Goes Down' and ‘How I Could Just Kill A Man.’ The crowd’s energy never diminished throughout the night, in fact it only amplified as mosh pits turned into breakdancing circles.
Rap duo B-real and Sen Dog’s friendship and musical chemistry was evident onstage as they performed classic tunes ‘Insane in the Brain,’ ‘Hand on the Pump’ and ‘A to the K.’ Cypress Hill ended the night with an explosive performance of ‘Rock Superstar,’ which tested the foundation of Best Buy Theater.
Redman, a veteran MC and legendary live performer, took it back to the '90s with his set. Not only did fans groove to his tracks like 'Pick It Up,' 'Time 4 Sum Aksion,' 'How to Roll a Blunt' and 'Da Goodness,' but he incorporated classic songs from Tupac and Biggie as well. Red ended his high-energy set by getting up close and personal with fans and diving into the crowd.
Harlem's "Kush God" Smoke DZA lived up to his name as he kicked off the night and got the weed heads started early at the beginning of the show.
