Not many rappers would let us look behind the curtain to get a peak at their creative process, but apparently Curren$y doesn’t mind.
In his new video for ‘House Shoes,’ the New Orleans lyricist takes us inside the studio to see how he created the song. Things start off with the 33-year-old sitting down on a couch and putting pen to pad, which is somewhat of a throwback process, as many rappers today write rhymes on their smartphone.
The track was put together by Thelonious Martin, and you can see the respected producer crafting keyboard sounds right before Curren$y steps into the booth. From there, the Jet Life honcho spits bars about his MCing skills, among other things.
“I was 16 with a dream to come up big / Keepin’ it a hundred and I done it / It’s the king of the underground summer / New Orleans where I come from, smoking worldwide rolling from the onion / I start my motor and your children think it’s thundering,” spits the talented lyricist.”
No word yet on whether ‘House Shoes’ will be on Curren$y’s ‘Pilot Talk 3′ album.
