Common will join President Obama for a rally in Chicago on Saturday (October 30), in support of the upcoming Congressional elections.

Common is expected to take the stage in his hometown for a performance on the Midway Plaisance in Hyde Park, to rally for Democratic candidates in President Obama's home state of Illinois. Campaign officials announced official details about the rally on Tuesday night (Oct. 26), confirming that the local emcee -– who grew up on Chicago's South Side -- would be on hand to entertain the crowd.

Common's upcoming performance will not be his first contribution to Obama's political efforts. In 2008, he appeared in Will.i.am.'s 'Yes We Can' video, in support of Obama and later performed at the Home States Inaugural Ball in January 2009, where the president entertained guests from Illinois and Hawaii.

The gates at Hyde Park will open for the rally at 4:30PM. Attendees at the free event are encouraged to RSVP in advance.
