After hearing 'Kingdom' and 'Speak My Piece,' it's apparent that Common's new album, 'Nobody's Smiling,' is going to be as heavy on the social commentary as it is on the rhymes and metaphors. But with the latest single off his forthcoming 10th LP, the veteran Chicago rapper lightens the mood on 'Diamonds.'

With fellow G.O.O.D. Music member Big Sean providing the celebratory hook ("Oh, walk up in the thing and got my campaign popping / Champagne popping, bad thing popping / Head in to the door and ain't a damn thing knocking, no"), Common Sense offers a rare moment of joy on his otherwise serious album.

The mood is clearly reflected in Common's rhymes as he tips his hat to fellow rap legend Nas ("Wrote this on my bornday, it was a warm day") before having fun serving up simile after simile: "My bars and my PR like Puerto Rico / This broad from the DR said I was frio / That's ice cold like Dre triple 3-0."

Like the rest of 'Nobody's Smiling,' No I.D. provides the rubbery production you hear on this track. Due in stores July 22, the album is available to pre-order on iTunes.
