Australian fans weren't too fond of Childish Gambino's performance this week. The 32-year-old rapper was met with boos while onstage during a performance at The Cambridge Hotel in Newcastle.

According to The Guardian, the STN MTN creator was onstage for over an hour but only touched the mic for one song. But, by then it was too late. For the majority of the "mixtape performance" he was behind the turntables, letting other artists get some shine on the mic. It was much to the surprise and displeasure of attendees who thought he would be the one rapping.

The hotel has since released a statement to the concert-goers, and stated that Gambino "didn't deliver on what was billed and expected by everyone, including us."

"To everyone who came to see Childish Gambino show last night we are as disappointed as all of you. We had the opportunity to present Childish Gambino to Newcastle in an intimate gig and we jumped at the chance as we aim to bring the best possible acts to Newcastle for music lovers. As seen last night, unfortunately we have no control over the acts performance once on stage," the statement reads.

After releasing two solid mixtapes last year, the rapper, born Donald Glover, has been focusing on his acting career. Along with starring in The Lazarus Effect, the former Community star also appears in Magic Mike XXL and The Martian. His own TV movie, Atlanta, about two rappers on their way to fame in the Southern city, is also in the works.

While Glover may not be rapping or singing onstage quite as often these days, he did deliver a dope cover of Tamia's "So Into You," as well as a live performance of "Sober" for the Aussie show, triple j. Check out his version of the love ode below.
